Abstract
Carcinoma of the lower lip is more common and more curable than any other forms of oral cancer. If surgery is the treatment, the excision must be adequate and the reconstructed lip must be functionally useful and aestetically acceptible. The tissue for the reconstruction are the remaining portions of the resected lip, the opposite lip, adjacent cheek, and distant flaps, etc.

A lip which has sensation and sphincter function would be the most desirable one for the patient. Creating a labioalveolar sulcus of sufficient dimension to collect saliva and prevent drooling is a major consideration. Also the reconstructed lips should perform social functions such as speech and expression.

Authors have good result using the methods of modified Bernard Operation and Webster Operation for total reconstruction of the lower lip after resection of squamous cell carcinoma. Therefore, we present our clinical experiences and appreciate the merits of these operations.
